THE BUTOKU KAI CREST
The original Butoku Kai crest was white on a blue background. Through the passing of time it has developed into black characters on a gold background. The crest has much significance and in many cases a deep philosophical meaning.
THE SIX SYMBOLS
- GOLD – The idea of richness which the knowledge gives.
- BLACK – Good physical shape, high morals, and indomitable spirit.
- SHAPE – Chrysanthemum, the Japanese national flower.
- 8-POINTS – Representing the eight points of balance.
- SMALL LINES – Representing the different Martial Arts that belong to the Butoku Kai.
- JAPANESE CHARACTERS – They read “Zen Bei” meaning “Great American”.
The crest should be worn by all members on the left lapel of the Gi, over the heart.
